Christopher Dvorak, MD

Dr. Dvorak is Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics; Chief, Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, & Blood and Marrow Transplantation at UCSF. He is a national leader and expert on supportive care in a stem cell transplant and oncology setting. He currently serves as Chair of the International Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium’s Supportive Care Strategy Group supporting where he leads individuals in the design of pilot multicenter trials in related to supportive care.

Frederick Hecht, MD

Dr. Hecht is Professor of Medicine and Director of Research at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He has extensive experience in clinical research and specifically, randomized clinical trials testing nonpharmacologic methods of treating health conditions. He has recently completed two PO1 grants with randomized, controlled trials that incorporate measures similar to those that will be employed in this study.

Anne Lown, DPH

Dr.P.H., Principal Investigator: Assistant Professor, Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Nursing, UCSF. Dr. Lown is an epidemiologist in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the School of Nursing. She has been engaged in epidemiologic research on childhood cancer survivors and their families over the past 15 years working within Children’s Oncology Group as a patient advocate, working with colleagues from the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study and working with sibling researchers and advocates. Christina Mangurian, MD, MAS

Dr. Mangurian is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a specialist in dissemination. As Core Faculty of the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations, she is particularly skilled at adapting interventions to underserved minority populations. Dr. Mangurian has a successful track record in implementation of interventions in the public sector.

Alexis Melton, MD, PhD

HS Assoc Clinical Professor
Pediatrics

Dr. Melton is an attending physician on both the Bone Marrow Transplant and the general pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit, thus she will be knowledgeable and help with the implementation of the study across both sites. Further, she is familiar with the clinical setting and treatment schedules for children with brain tumors who are receiving daily radiation treatment and who will be given the option to enroll in the study

Eric Vittinghoff, PhD

Adjunct Professor
Epidemiology & Biostatistics

Eric Vittinghoff studied public health and biostatistics at the University of California, Berkeley. He was principal statistician of the Heart and Estrogen/Progestin Replacement Study (HERS) and has worked in the HIV Research Section, San Francisco Department of Public Health. He is currently head statistician for the UCSF Women's Health Clinical Research Center and Associate Adjunct Professor of Biostatistics for the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
